Cameras you can actually get footage off

The point of a camera system is the ten minutes, six months from now, when something happened and you need to find it. That's the part most systems fail at. The cameras were up and recording the whole time, and then nobody can work out how to export the clip, or the footage from that night is already gone.

So that's what I build for. Cameras placed where they'll actually catch a face or a plate instead of the top of someone's head. Enough recording time that you're not racing the clock. And before I leave, I sit down with you and you pull up footage yourself while I'm standing there, so you've done it once.

What I install

Ubiquiti camera systems, same as the networking side. One system, one app, one login for cameras and network together. If you already have Ubiquiti networking gear, cameras drop straight into it.

  • Indoor and outdoor cameras, wired, so they don't drop off WiFi at night
  • A recorder kept on site, so your footage isn't dependent on a monthly cloud bill
  • Recording length sized to how long you'd realistically need to look back
  • Viewing on your phone, from anywhere, without a technician setting it up for you each time
  • Motion alerts, tuned so you aren't getting notified every time a car passes
  • Cabling run and terminated properly, not stapled along a baseboard

Placement is most of the job

A camera pointed at a doorway from above gives you the top of a hat. A camera at face height near the door gives you a face. A camera looking straight at a window gives you a bright rectangle every afternoon and nothing else.

I walk the property first and work out what you actually want to see: the register, the entrance, the yard, the loading area, the parking. Then I place for that. It's usually fewer cameras than people expect, positioned better.

Quoted, not hourly. I walk the site, work out the camera count and the cable runs, and give you one fixed number covering equipment and installation. You see it before anything is ordered.
